Assessing the Legality of the Use of Force Against States Engaged in Ongoing Armed Conflicts under International Law
The legality of using force against states who are already engaged in the process of armed conflict according to the rules of international law is considered in this commitee. This commitee is focused on the notions of state sovereignty, non-use of force according to the provisions of the UN Charter, and the narrow set of cases when the use of force is permissible, such as self-defense and authorization by UN Security Council. Delegates will discuss the situation when the use of force is legal, the way of evaluating necessity and proportionality, and how the international law works in the case of armed conflict.
