The Annexation of Goa
The annexation of Goa was the military operation conducted by the Indian army in December 1961, codenamed Operation Vijay, in which they seized and incorporated the Portuguese-controlled territories of Goa, Daman, and Diu into Indian territory. This operation is referred to as the "Liberation of Goa" by Indian side, whereas it is referred to as the "Invasion of Goa" by Portugal, exposing the complicated background of the issue. The military operation involved air, sea and land strikes from both parties, which clearly states the determination and ambition to claim the area. During this edition of GSLMUN, delegates will be engaging in passionate debate alongside of real-time decision making in order to rewrite the course of history as a member of the United Nations Security Council.
